ABOUT THE CREATOR
TIMMY WAKEFIELD
Musician · Songwriter · Producer
Timmy Wakefield is an American musician, songwriter and producer based in South Florida. He founded the independent music project Prophets of the Cosmic Darkness in 2025.
BACKGROUND
FROM THE NAVY
TO MUSIC
Before Prophets of the Cosmic Darkness, Wakefield served in the United States Navy, where music largely disappeared from his life for nearly a decade.
After leaving the Navy, he built a career in technology and business systems, including working as a Salesforce administrator.
Music isn't Wakefield's day job. Eventually, though, what had been put aside for years became something he wanted to take seriously again.
STARTING AGAIN
STARTING AT 38
Wakefield began Prophets of the Cosmic Darkness at 38, after the death of a friend changed the way he thought about time and the things he kept putting off.
Rather than waiting until he felt ready, he started writing, recording and learning production as he went.
Starting later became part of the point: there was no reason to keep waiting.
THE PROCESS
SONGWRITING & PRODUCTION
Songs often begin with very little.
A bass line. A melody. A synthesizer sound. A rhythm. A phrase. A feeling.
From there, Wakefield builds around the original idea rather than beginning with a predetermined genre. Much of the writing, recording and production happens in Logic Pro at his home studio.
CREATIVE INDEPENDENCE
AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST
Wakefield remains involved in nearly every part of his work: songwriting, recording, production, artwork, music videos, the website and releasing the music itself.
That doesn't mean doing everything alone. Other musicians contribute when a song benefits from collaboration.
The independence is less about refusing help and more about maintaining the freedom to follow an idea without first deciding whether it fits a genre, trend or marketing plan.
PRIMARY PROJECT
PROPHETS OF THE
COSMIC DARKNESS
Wakefield's primary music project is Prophets of the Cosmic Darkness, founded in January 2025. He is the project's sole songwriter and producer, while collaborating with other musicians when a song calls for it.
